Blog and Modern Painting. Christ deploration or Piéta. La Dormition de la Vierge" appear to be major works of contemporary Sacred Art.
This clearing of the subconscious, this rigorous and ruthless look upon ourselves naturally leads to the question of the sacred. The Sacred in REGNER's works appears
like a meditation about death: "Piéta selon Saint Jean", and the three "Mise au tombeau". Yet, the attentive care that surrounds the precious body, the gentle and enveloping gestures also suggest
the imminence of a glorious resurrection. Here we are far from the boiling casserole of our subconscious; we are transported in a universe of calm and profound peace. The scathing colors of Hell
give way to a slow display of grave browns flaming in places. One thinks of the poignant sadness of Albinoni, but of his trusting hope, as well. "La Piéta", the three "mise au tombeau" and "La
Dormition de la Vierge" appear to be major works of contemporary Sacred Art. We should also, perhaps, include "L'homme mort", wherein, beyond the terrible fact, an entity seems to escape into the
maze of lines. "L'ange du Seigneur" and "Trois mystères en un" leave this austere register, however, by soothing themselves in juvenile sweetness.
